Days 1–3: rest and close monitoring
These are usually the most uncomfortable days. Swelling and bruising often increase before they improve. Most surgeons ask you to keep your head elevated, apply cold compresses as instructed, take prescribed medication on time and avoid bending or lifting.
Stay somewhere quiet and close to the clinic. Simple meals, plenty of water and a planned route to the clinic make these days easier.
Days 4–7: first check-ups and stitch removal
Many facial procedures include a check-up in the first week, and stitches are often removed around days five to seven. Some clinics offer aftercare such as deswelling treatments; ask whether it is included and whether your surgeon recommends it.
Short, gentle walks are usually encouraged. Avoid alcohol, saunas, heavy exercise and spicy or very salty food unless your doctor says otherwise.
Weeks 2–3: feeling more like yourself
For many facial procedures, visible bruising fades during the second week and patients feel comfortable in public with light make-up, glasses or a mask. More involved operations, such as facial bone surgery or rib-cartilage rhinoplasty, usually take longer.
Your surgeon may want a final check before you leave Korea. Plan your return flight with enough buffer and confirm it with your doctor.
Months 1–6 and beyond: settling results
Residual swelling, firmness or numbness can take months to resolve, especially after nose, jaw and facelift surgery. Judging results too early is common and can cause unnecessary worry.
Before flying home, ask how to send progress photos, what warning signs need urgent attention and how to arrange follow-up with a local doctor if needed.

Common questions
Can I go sightseeing during recovery?
Gentle, short outings are often fine after the first few days if your doctor agrees. Avoid crowds, heat and long walks early on.
When can I fly home?
That depends on your procedure and how you are healing. Please check with your doctor before flying home.
What if a problem appears after I return?
Contact your clinic with photos and a description, and see a local doctor promptly. For anything urgent, use local emergency services first.
