What a registered facilitator does

A medical travel facilitator registered with Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare coordinates the non-medical side of your trip: introductions to licensed clinics, appointment scheduling, translation support, and logistics like transport and accommodation. Medical decisions, diagnoses and treatment always stay between you and your doctor — a facilitator does not practise medicine.

What protection registration adds

Registration means the facilitator meets government requirements for serving foreign patients, including liability insurance, and appears in official records you can check. If something goes wrong with treatment itself, foreign patients can also turn to the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency, which handles disputes with medical institutions. Neither replaces travel or health insurance, which you should arrange yourself.

Do your own checks either way

Whether you book alone or through a facilitator, the same rules apply: verify the clinic and the operating surgeon, get written, itemised quotes, and never feel rushed into a decision. A good facilitator encourages these checks rather than asking for blind trust — and you can verify any facilitator's registration through official Ministry of Health and Welfare channels before engaging them.
